InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced that it will operate the newly-built Hotel Indigo London under a franchise agreement with Meadow Partners and Roquebrook.

The 207-room hotel is due to open in 2017 and is located in Aldgate Place in the capital, close to Canary Wharf, the City of London and Liverpool Street, as well as the Tower of London and Southbank.

The hotel’s design will reflect the local culture, combining the intimate service of a boutique hotel with the brand’s offerings.

Anna Corkill, development director, UK & Ireland, IHG, said: “Together with Meadow Partners and Roquebrook we’re proud to be bringing the first Hotel Indigo hotel to East London.

“London is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world and is therefore a key global city for everyone. With so many unique neighbourhoods, it is the perfect location for the brand and this latest signing is very much in line with our growth plans for the city.”

Simon Blakeborough, director of Roquebrook, said: “This area is so alive and is a melting pot of cultures, cuisines art and architecture, making it the perfect neighbourhood for a Hotel Indigo hotel. It really is a fantastic place to visit whether you are travelling for business or leisure.

“This is our second Hotel Indigo hotel that we’re developing in the UK and we look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with IHG.”
