- Byron has pleaded with protestors to respect the safety of its customers and staff amid ongoing backlash over its recent moves on illegal workers. It comes after two of the burger brand's London branches were forced to close after activists flooded them with locusts and cockroaches.
- Deliveroo has received a $275m investment to help it expand in new and existing markets. The funding will help develop the firm's Roobox concept, allowing restaurants to offer delivery-only kitchens in certain locations.
- Indian restaurant group Dishoom is to open its first site outside London in Edinburgh this year. The venue will launch in the former Forsyth's department store building and feature a design inspired by Scottish biologist Sir Patrick Geddes.
- Room letting site Airbnb is to begin building hotels to increase tourism in rural areas. Each site will be run by local residents with all proceeds being used for the benefit of the community.
- London-based The Zetter Group has revealed plans to open its first Manchester hotel in a former fire station. The boutique hoteliers are to join the London Road Fire Station development, also set to feature a 'world class' cocktail bar, spa and office space.
