The Clink teams up with London Hilton Park Lane for charity dinner

The Clink Restaurant charity – which trains prisoners in hospitality skills and runs high-end restaurants in prisons ‒ has partnered with the 453-bedroom London Hilton on Park Lane for a fundraising dinner.

The four-course event will take place on 6 October at The Clink Restaurant at HMP Brixton, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to support the rehabilitation of serving prisoners through work-based hospitality training.

Tickets are £50 per person and are available via email at brixton@theclinkrestaurant.com.

There will also be a raffle on the night, whose funds will be donated to the DM Thomas Foundation and Carney’s Community to help them continue their work with vulnerable people in the UK and worldwide.

All produce for the dinner will be donated by the hotel, with Hilton executive chef Anthony Marshall and five of his team set to join Clink head chef Paul Clarkson and his trainees in the Clink kitchen. Prisoners training in front-of-house will also be working on the night.

The evening will begin with a non-alcoholic mocktail, and will also feature an introduction to the work of The Clink Charity by chief executive Christopher Moore, and to HMP Brixton by governor Giles Mason.

A graduate of the scheme’s training programme will talk about how it has helped them.

More guest speakers are set to be announced.

Chief executive Moore thanked the London Hilton on Park Lane for their support, and said: “As a restaurant we look to work with other hospitality businesses who share our passion for education and training, are champions of the industry and appreciate the importance of inspiring more people to pursue a career in hospitality.

"This event is an amalgamation of all of these things and we hope to raise as much money as we can to support the continued work of the charities involved.”

Its first restaurant project opened in HMP High Down in Surrey, in 2009. There are also operations at HMP Cardiff and HMP Send.

London Hilton on Park Lane has 453 bedrooms and 56 suites, alongside its 1,250 capacity Grand Ballroom, and the Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows restaurant and the Polynesian-style site Trader Vic’s.
