The buffet restaurant brand Cosmo is attempting to go more high end with the launch of its first ‘deluxe’ restaurant.

The restaurant group, which is known for serving a huge array of food in large restaurants at low prices, is re-opening its Leeds site in July following a major refurbishment.

The re-launched restaurant will be the brand’s first Cosmo Luxe restaurant, and promises to give guests a more upmarket dining experience with improved 'gourmet' dishes. If successful, the restaurant will become the template for the new Luxe brand.

Like the others sites, Cosmo Luxe will serve more than 150 dishes from across the world, including curries, treppanyaki and sushi, pizz,  pasta, charcuterie and cheeses. Its dessert offer will feature a chocolate fountain, a DIY ice-cream counter and a selection of patisserie.

The restaurant will charge a set price for its all-you-can-eat offer, at £18-£19 per diner.

The interior of the Leeds site has been revamped to give it a more upmarket feel, with the restaurant to feature marble floors, cool grey concrete surfaces and green onyx leather chairs, giving it the feel of a private members’ club, according to the company. It will also feature a cocktail bar and a new wine wall.

Cosmo opened its first restaurant in 2003 and was at the vanguard of the buffet restaurant renaissance in the UK. It’s approach is said to be modelled on the high-end buffet restaurants found in five-star hotels in the Far East.

Its pricing model means that there is a small charge for infants under three (£3 dinner and £2 lunch) while children under 150cm dine at half price.

There are currently around 20 Cosmos in England, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, with another set to open soon in Northampton. The group claims to be one of the UK’s largest restaurant groups by volume thanks to its large restaurants.
