The founders of kebab restaurant Le Bab in Soho’s kingly Court have confirmed they are opening a follow up restaurant in Covent Garden, which they are aiming to become “one of the best kebab houses in the world”.

As reported by BigHospitality in December last year, owners Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet have taken on a site in the new Mercer Walk development in Seven Dials to open Maison Bab.

The restaurant, which will be located opposite chef Neil Rankin’s third Temper restaurant, is due to launch this spring.

Maison Bab is described as a ‘modern kebab house and bar’ and will feature a ‘hidden’ 10-seat chef’s table. A year in the making, it is being launch in collaboration with Le Bab head chef Manu Canales Garces, who will head up the kitchen.

The six-strong kebab menu will feature what is described as a new style of kebab for the trio with ‘more punchy, bold flavour combinations’. All priced under £10, options will include onglet with fresh green peppercorn mayo and dressed watercress; and a vegan option of slow-grilled celeriac shish with carrot puree and crispy onions.

There will also be a selection of ‘modern’ mezze and desserts on offer.

The restaurant will be set across two floors with 40 covers on the ground floor and a further 30 in the basement. The chef’s table of 10 will be located around the open kitchen.

It will primarily serve walk ins and will also provide takeaway and delivery to the Covent Garden area.

“Maison Bab represents a completely new concept for us,” says Tozer. “We’ll be offering something punchier, bolder and more surprising.”

“We are aiming to make this one of the best kebab houses in the world.”
