Browns founder revamps luxury portfolio with £8.5m funding
Jeremy Mogford, the founder of the Browns restaurant chain, has revamped his entire Oxford hospitality portfolio after securing £8.5m funding from Santander.

Mogford Ltd was launched by the entrepreneur in 1978 and includes the five-star Old Parsonage Hotel and Grill, The Old Bank Hotel, Gee’s Restaurant and Quod Restaurant in Oxford.

Mogford also founded Browns in Brighton in 1973 before selling the group to Bass Brewery in 1996.

The £8.5m funding has seen a total refurbishment of his Oxford sites, including a three-year overhaul of the Old Bank Hotel with the launch of a £1,000 a night rooftop bedroom.

“The refurbishment means we can continue to offer customers the highest possible standard and level of service,” says Mogford.

“We are incredibly excited about the new rooftop bedroom at the Old Bank, which is the first of its kind in Oxford and will no doubt be very popular.”

Santander says it is looking forward to “continuing to work with Jeremy and the team” in future.
