Burger & Lobster is ramping up its global expansion with plans to launch its first restaurant in Singapore this year.

The chain is to open an 81-cover site on the top floor of the Jewel Changi Airport development, overlooking a 40m “Rain Vortex” – reportedly the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.

It will offer the group’s signature burger, Atlantic lobster and lobster rolls, with new seasonal dishes “inspired by local flavours”.

Burger & Lobster says it is planning further openings worldwide, including in the United States and Asia, following “better than expected” trading last year.

The group recovered from a £10m loss in 2016 to post a £2.4m profit in 2017. During the full year to 2017 the company closed four UK restaurants to focus on London and international growth.

The company said in 2018 that it is now using London as a “test kitchen” for concepts it can roll out overseas.

Burger & Lobster launched in Mayfair in 2011 and now has nine restaurants in London, two in New York and one each in Dubai, Bangkok, Kuwait City and at Genting Highlands resort in Malaysia.

BigHospitality's sister site MCA reported last year that the group plans to trial a new concept called Shack in London, which will serve a simplified menu of burgers and lobster rolls, with prices starting under £10.
