Aiden Byrne’s plans to open his first restaurant in his home city of Liverpool have fallen through, due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Byrne had planned to relaunch Steven Gerrard and Paul Adams’s The Vincent Café & Cocktail bar as The Metropolitan Bar & Grill Rooms later this year, with the backing of Medusa Hospitality.
Former Chiltern Firehouse head chef Patrick Powell will launch his first solo restaurant venture in June. Named Allegra, it will sit on the seventh floor of property developer Harry Handelsman’s Manhattan Loft Gardens development in Stratford.
Casual Dining Group (CDG) is hoping to launch a programme that supports Syrian refugees in gaining the necessary experience needed to work within the hospitality industry, following a successful pilot that saw nine refugees gain first-hand industry experience working at CDG sites in Coventry.
Nathan Outlaw and the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai have mutually agreed to end their restaurant partnership after two and a half years. In a statement, the Burj Al Arab said it was “working on the next culinary chapter for the restaurant”.
A ‘high-end’ cocktail bar and restaurant is to open within a Georgian-listed mansion in Halifax later this year. Bradford-based bar operator Alibi has signed the lease on Somerset House, and is set to open on the site of the former Le Metro restaurant on Rawson Street in the summer.
