Tonkotsu set to add two more London sites to portfolio
It comes after the group secured £5m in funding from investment firm YFM Equity Partners earlier this year.
At the time Kem Yamada, who founded the business with Emma Reynolds in Soho in 2013, said the partnership would allow the brand to grow and enable them to open a handful more sites.
Opening within the Market Peckham workspace, the new 50-cover first floor restaurant will feature an open kitchen and bar, as well as wall murals crafted by artist Mr Christa.
It will serve Tonkotsu’s signature homemade noodle ramens, gyozas and Japanese appetisers, alongside a selection of craft beer, sake and cocktails.
“Peckham, with its rich cultural history and diverse mix of creatives and makers is a perfect place for our real ramen,” says Tonkotsu’s managing director Stephen Evans.
“We are thrilled to be part of the Market workspace, in the heart of Peckham, and look forward to finally opening our doors mid-September.”
The Tonkotsu group, which also operates a ramen bar in Selfridges Birmingham, previously ran high-end Asian concept Anzu in London’s St James’ Market development, but converted the site to its ramen brand before closing altogether back in January after operating for two years.
