Wagamama opens Mamago spin-off restaurant
The chain’s ‘little sister’ concept has launched on 120 Fenchurch Street, with dishes designed to grab and go.
Mamago is open from 7am – 6pm with a menu including breakfast porridge; laksas; rice bowls; and pumpkin and turmeric wraps with a choice of four fillings.
The chain’s famous katsu curry has been adapted in to multiple dishes such as a katsu chicken wrap; vegan cauliflower or chicken katsu rice bowl; and naked chicken katsu salad.
Drinks include juices; smoothies; coffee; Asahi beer; rose wine and sauvignon blanc.
Wagamama’s business development director Andre Johnstone says the chain will continue to evolve the concept based on feedback.
“We realise that we can’t get everything right on day one and our philosophy at Mamago is to test everything and get as much feedback as possible,” says Johnstone.
“We know new product development is messy, so we will listen carefully and keep innovating and improving to stay relevant.”
The site has been designed with sustainability in mind – all packaging is compostable, and the store finishes are recycled or upcycled.
Plans for Mamago were announced in March after The Restaurant Group (TRG), which owns brands including Chiquito's and Frankie & Benny's, bought Wagamama for £559m in late 2018.
