Robin and Sarah Gill's highly influential The Dairy restaurant, which permanently closed the doors to its original home in Clapham last month, is to reopen in London's Bermondsey next week.

In an Instagram post this morning (4 September), The Dairy's co-owner Dan Joines said: "Today we announce the incredible news that we have a new home for The Dairy.

"The implications of the pandemic and economic fall out immediately put us into survival mode and we have been battling everyday since we were forced to close to keep the dream alive.

"We are absolutely delighted to get another chance, create jobs and keep our team together."

Ireland-born couple Robin and Sarah Gill announced last month in an emotional video that they had been forced to close what was their debut resftestaurant as a result of the 'major financial hit' incurred as a result of the Coronavirus lockdown.

They also announced that The Dairy's adjoining Counter Culture restaurant would not reopen too.

Joines says the new Dairy site will be nestled in the new Bermonds Locke on Tower Bridge Road.

"We are all looking forward to welcoming our lovely regulars and new neighbours, so please come and see us all soon," he added.

Opened in 2013, The Dairy was a cult hit and an early proponent of a more laid-back, rustic and affordable approach to fine dining, offering a tasting menu for around £45.

It was a favourite of off-duty restaurant workers - including a number of top chefs - and at one point ran an infamous industry-only suppler club that saw a guest chef serve up a meal between 1am and 7am in the morning.

The Dairy was a smash hit with the critics too, attracting rave reviews across the board. It was also a regular on Restaurant’s list of the top 100 places to eat in the UK.
