Piazza Italiana to open on the former home of British Linen Bank in the City this May
Launching on Threadneedle Street on 19 May, the grand new restaurant is being led by restaurateur Victor Ravdive, founder of Restau-Rateur Group, with Sicily-born Remo Mazzucato as brand chefand Aleksandr Sarujev as it head chef.
It will occupy the former telling room of British Linen Bank with the interior having been restored to its original design when the bank occupied the space from 1902, with Neoclassical Corinthian columns and ceilings part of the design.
The design of Ante Chamber private dining room, meanwhile, takes inspiration from a contemporary interpretation of Venetian palaces.
Piazza Italiana will serve a menu featuring dishes from across Italy, including sea bass carpaccio; Gorgonzola carpaccio - sliced beef fillet with warm gorgonzola cream sauce; ravioli of king crab; ossobuco; and turbot with Sicilian sauce.
The restaurant will also serve an afternoon tea menu with baby calzone; mini focaccia; antipasti salad; bruschettas with sardines and garlic ricotta; marinated mussels and clams; as well as range of desserts including mini tiramisu and Italian biscuits.
Later on it will serve a tasting menu every Friday and Saturday using seasonal ingredients and inspired by regional cuisine of Italy.
