Bakery and social enterprise The Dusty Knuckle will open a second site, on Green Lanes in Haringey at the end of July.

The new venue will be larger than the debut Dalston café and will serve bread baked every morning, including potato sourdough, and pastries. It will also serve an all-day breakfast menu at weekends, featuring egg, pickled chilli, spring onion and cheddar on focaccia; a bacon sandwich; and homemade granola with yoghurt.

The lunch offer will feature a range of sandwiches, soups, salads and chef’s specials as well as traditional Italian snacks such as marinated anchovies with a range of pizzas, including a nduja pizza with homemade nduja and honey; and white pizza with ricotta, fior di latte, potatoes and sweet onion served in the evenings.

Launched by friends Max Tobias, Rebecca Oliver and Daisy Terry in a 40ft shipping container in Hackney in 2014, The Dusty Knuckle was created to train young offenders into becoming responsible professionals so that they can earn legitimately and contribute to society.

The trio have since opened a permanent café in Dalston as well as a wholesale bakery and social enterprise that employs 50 people and bakes around 5,000 loaves each week.

“We’ve made use of all manner of materials; begged, borrowed or stolen to bring the space together and have designed the whole thing ourselves. It’s been a 24/7 labour of love and we really hope that the people of Haringey love their new bakery,” says Tobias.
