Tim Brooke-Webb appointed managing director of expanding The World’s 50 Best Group

In a management reshuffle at William Reed, Tim Brooke-Webb, former managing director of William Reed’s hospitality group, has been appointed managing director of The World’s 50 Best Group.

As managing director of the hospitality group Brooke-Webb led the growth and development of William Reed’s hospitality media brands BigHospitality, Restaurant, The Morning Advertiser, MCA Insight​, and The World’s 50 Best. He will now take full-time responsibility of The World’s 50 Best platform as it continues to grow and expand into new territories.

He joined William Reed in 2007 as publisher of The Morning Advertiser and was promoted to publishing director in 2009, also overseeing Restaurant magazine, BigHospitality and MCA Insight. He became managing director of the hospitality group in 2014.

Over the past 14 years Brooke-Webb has driven the success of The World’s 50 Best platform including the introduction of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants as well as the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs, The Publican Awards and Retailers’ Retailer Awards.

“I feel very proud of what the team and company has achieved in the last 14 years and I am pleased that, despite the pandemic, I am handing over these brands in such excellent condition, we’ve created an amazing set of websites, ingenious digital products and a truly world-leading set of events which have robustly stood the test of time,” he says.

“The William Reed Board have asked me to focus my time purely on the fast-evolving 50 Best Portfolio which has begun another exciting stage of its development with introduction of a new set of events in the Middle East, the relaunch of 50 Best Discovery and a plethora of exciting international opportunities ahead.” 

Brooke-Webb’s appointment is one of a number of moves within William Reed with Lorraine Hendle, managing director for retail and manufacturing, now taking overall responsibility for the Morning Advertiser​ and BigHospitality​ brands. Chris Lowe will remain publisher of the Morning Advertise​r and will additionally take on responsibility for media brands Food Manufacture​ and British Baker​, while Jo Wattar will remain publisher of BigHospitality​.

Jill Livesey, managing director at Lumina Intelligence, will take responsibility for MCA Insight​, with Alan Totten remaining its publisher.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 will be revealed at a gala event on 5 October in Antwerp.
