Muse and Maison François among winners at Restaurant & Bar Design Awards
Tom Aikens’ Belgravia townhouse restaurant Muse won in the Europe Luxury category while Maison François, a brasserie in Piccadilly, won in the Europe Standalone category.
Muse, designed by Körner Interiors, is a restaurant set in a two-floor townhouse with two distinct styles – the ground floor bar area has an Austin Powers meets Barbarella vibe with strong colours and lined patterns while upstairs is a more neutral colour palette with ornate curved mirrors and angular lighting.
Maison François, which was designed by The Guild of Saint Luke, takes its interior design cues from a postmodern cement factory in Barcelona, with a concrete effect ceiling, high muted pink walls, smart cream leather banquette seating and a huge clock sat above the pass inspired by 1970s wristwatches.
Both venues appear in this year's list of the UK's Top 100 Restaurants.
Leña, a restaurant in Marbella, Spain, and More 7 Bar, a bar in Xi'an, China, designed by were named the overall winners of the 2021 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.
The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards are in their 13th year and recognise the design of food and beverage spaces from ships to airports, museums to burger vans, and Michelin-starred restaurants to pop-up venues.
It is judged by a panel of personalities in design, hospitality and lifestyle globally, with this year’s awards receiving 844 entries from 69 countries.
