Gareth Bartram to take on Auction House in Louth
Former Winteringham Fields head chef Gareth Bartram is to open a restaurant in the Lincolnshire town of Louth this spring.

The chef, who spent the past nine years at Winteringham Fields, Lincolnshire’s only Michelin-starred restaurant, is taking on Auction House in Cornmarket alongside his wife Lucy.

The restaurant closed in May last year after four years of trading, with the owners citing the cost of energy, rising food and drink prices and health issues as the reason for the closure.

Speaking to Lincolnshire World, the chef said that many of the restaurant’s original features will be retained, including its distinctive wooden wall panelling and green and white tiling.

“We want to offer relaxing and comfortable dining with a great atmosphere and nice music that people will know to allow people to have great conversation, as well as fine dining,” he said.

Bartram studied at catering college in Grimsby before getting his first cheffing job at Gordon Ramsay’s Boxwood Café. He later worked at Jack’s Restaurant in Corsham in Bath, before joining Winteringham Fields, becoming head chef at the restaurant in July 2018.

He announced he would be leaving the restaurant in January this year.
