Chinese dumplings restaurant XI Home to open third London site
Restaurateur Wenjun Xiang is opening a third site of popular Chinese restaurant XI Home.

Following the success of XI Home venues in Covent Garden and at the Bang Bang Oriental Food Hall on Edgware Road, the new restaurant will open on Blossom Street, near Liverpool Street Station.

The 46-cover restaurant is inspired by the buzzy harbour town of Dalian, where Xiang grew up, and will serve signature dumplings from Northern China.

XI home will serve a range of more than 20 dumplings, alongside buns and pancakes all handmade on site from the glass, open plan kitchen, allowing guests to see the pastry chefs at work.

Menu items will include sweet and sour pork; steamed cold noodles; soup bun – a dish where pork broth is sipped from a straw inside the bun; and the classic jade lobster dumpling, a family recipe handed down from generation to generation.

Other dumplings options will include abalone; black cuttlefish; and sea cucumber.

Paying homage to the Dalian region and its fishing heritage, the restaurant's interiors, overseen by Blacksheep, will feature a giant neon lobster on the ceiling and the walls will be decorated with wave-like patterns. Many design features have been imported directly from China, including the wooden flooring and tiles.

“We are delighted to have secured such a prestigious location for our third and flagship XI home, it was a dream of mine since graduating from Imperial College Business School, which for me was an invaluable experience,” says Xiang.

“The restaurant is very dear to me, as it is completely inspired by my hometown, Dalian. I feel like its very essence has been transported here by steamboat and I can’t wait for Londoners to come and try it.”
