Luke Johnson joins Revolution Bars Group board
Luke Johnson has been appointed non-executive chairman of Revolution Bars Group following the retirement of Keith Edelman.

Johnson joins the board today (9 September) following his proposed appointment back in April, when Revolution announced its restructuring plans.

The group operates the Revolution, Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands.

Edelman leaves his role as chairman after nine years at the bar group.

“Keith’s strong leadership has been instrumental in steering the Group since 2015, says Rob Pitcher, CEO at Revolution Bars Group.

“Through IPO, the pandemic, unsolicited offers and the most recent fundraise and restructuring plan.

“As he steps down, we express our gratitude for his support and vision, which have left an enduring footprint on the company. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Johnson is well known in the restaurant sector having been chairman and a significant investor in Pizza Express during its rapid expansion in the 1990s. He was also behind Signature Restaurants, whose estate included fine dining restaurants The Ivy and Le Caprice and the Belgo chain, and is part-owner and chairman of Gail’s Bakery.

He was also the former chairman of beleaguered group Patisserie Valerie.

He joins at a time when the group is undergoing a restructure that will see it exit the leases of around 15 loss-making sites and implement rent reductions on certain other sites to enable them to return to profitability at a sustainable level.

“We are excited to be working with Luke who is vastly experienced in the hospitality sector and brings a wealth of knowledge to enable the next phase of the group’s development,” says Edelman

“I leave knowing the company is now in a stronger position and fit for purpose in today’s marketplace.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to the board, the management team, and all our dedicated colleagues for their support and commitment over the years.”
