More details have been released about MEATliquor’s new sports and horror bar BLOODsports.

Opening in Covent Garden on 12 February, the 120-seater bar has been inspired by some of North America’s best bars, including Barney’s Beanery in Los Angeles and Best Intentions in Chicago but framed through a British lens – ‘with a soupçon of anarchy thrown in for good measure’, according to the company.

The ‘watching bar’ will house more than 30 screens that will show live sports action from across the globe day and night, with a smattering of horror films screened in between.

Other entertainment options will include karaoke, a pool table, pinballs and arcade machines as well as a ‘Psychobooth’ – a photobooth inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock film’s famous shower scene.

BLOODsports’ food menu will feature MEATliquor classics such as the Dead Hippie burger, Monkey Fingers, and Nashville hot dusted fries as well as some exclusive dishes including the classic Chicago Dog and ‘The Ripper’ - a hotdog wrapped in bacon and deep fried.

In addition, the venue will be home to Portsmouth-based Hideout Coffee, which will serve its range of coffee and donuts from 8am till 8pm.

Also exclusive to BLOODsports will be its ‘Bloods & Drips’ menu. The ‘Bloods’ features a line-up of the tomato-based drink such as the Bloodless Mary Martini (which is clarified) and a Micheladas and can be ordered with a side of bacon.

The ‘Drips’ offer, meanwhile, will feature classics from negronis to martinis as well as riffs on classics – such as the Long Island Iced Coffee - while the wider drinks menu will include a range of cocktails, boozy slushies, highballs, boilermakers and beers.

Customers will also be able to order an Austerity Measure – a can of Carlsberg with a shot of Few bourbon for £7.50.

“BLOODsports has been on the cards for over 10 years, it’s just been a case of waiting for the right site,” says founder Scott Collins.

“It’s inspired by the best of the dive and sports bars I frequented when I lived in the US - with a carefully curated dash of horror films and our rock solid MEATliquor food menu with some BS specific dishes. In short, it’s a one stop fun shop…”

BLOODsports will be located on Endell Street in Covent Garden and have a late licence until 2am.
