Competitive socialising brand Swingers is to shutter its original site in the City of London next month due a planned redevelopment of the property.

The crazy golf and hospitality concept will close the doors to its site within Brown’s Buildings on 22 March, with the building subsequently set to be demolished.

Swingers first launched in the City in 2016 following a successful pop-up in Shoreditch.

Since then the group has expanded to multiple global locations, primarily in the US, including New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas.

The group recently made its debut in the Middle East with a site in Dubai, and is set to open a location in Boston later this year.

“Swingers City was where it all started,” says Matt Grech-Smith, co-founder and co-chief executive of Swingers.

“When we first signed the lease, we had no idea how much this venue would shape not only our business but the wider competitive socialising scene. At the time, the concept of combining crazy golf with high-quality food and drink in an immersive setting was virtually unheard of.

“Swingers City helped pave the way for an entire industry, inspiring a new era of social entertainment. It has been an incredible ride, and we are so grateful to our amazing team, loyal guests, and everyone who has been part of the Swingers City story.

“While we are sad to see it go, we are excited to continue building on its legacy as we continue to expand.”

Last year Swingers completed a $10m growth capital raise to fund further expansion with an aim of reaching a 15-strong global estate by 2026.

The group operates a second London outpost in the West End, which launched in 2018.
