The six chefs who will compete for the title of Roux Scholar 2025 have been revealed.

Katherine Altham, from Hélène Darroze at The Connaught in London; Liam Anderson, from Cambridge’s Midsummer House; Erin Jackson Yates, from Bar Valette in London; Craig Johnston, from Angler Restaurant in London; Oliver Robinson from Coworth Park in Berkshire; and Nikoletta Theofylaktidou at Restaurant Associates in London will compete in the final, being held on 14 April at the Alain Roux Culinary School at The Waterside Inn.

Harrison Miller from Blundells School in Devon has been named as a reserve.

The final chefs were selected following two regional finals in Birmingham and London.

The Birmingham final was judged by Michel Roux, Sat Bains, Simon Hulstone, and Rachel Humphrey, while judging at the London event was conducted by Alain Roux, Brian Turner, Emily Roux, Angela Hartnett, Andre Garrett, and Adam Smith.

For the national final of the competition, which is in its 41st year, the six chefs will be given the ingredients for a main dish, either classic or modern, and given up to three hours to prepare and present their dish to the judges.

The recipe details will be a complete surprise, with the chefs provided with ingredients 45 minutes before the start of the competition.

Chef Elena Arzak, the fourth generation of her family to run the kitchen at the three-star Michelin Restaurante Arzak in San Sebastián, Spain, will lead the judging panel for the final.

The 2025 Roux Scholar will be announced at an award ceremony followed by a dinner at Coworth Park in Berkshire the same evening.
