Lisa Goodwin-Allen is to leave her role as executive chef of Northcote Manor’s Michelin-starred restaurant after 23 years cooking at the luxury Lancashire hotel.

Goodwin-Allen, who has led the kitchen brigade at Northcote since the age of 23, confirmed in a statement that she would be moving on to explore new opportunities, describing her departure as ‘a bittersweet moment’.

She said: “I am incredibly proud of everything we have accomplished at Northcote and, more recently, across The Stafford Collection.

“The journey has been nothing short of amazing, and it has been an honour to lead such an exceptional team. I am so thankful for the opportunity Craig Bancroft [Northcote’s managing director] and all the team at Northcote have given me.

“I am leaving Northcote with the happiest of memories, after more than two decades it will always have a very special place in my heart! I am excited to see what happens next and exploring all new opportunities, whatever they may be.

“While this is a bittersweet moment, I wish the team continued success in the years ahead.”

Northcote said Goodwin-Allen’s tenure has been ‘defined by a deep respect for British ingredients, pioneering seasonal menus that showcase the best of local produce’.

The restaurant has now retained its Michelin star for 29 years and is currently ranked at number 74 on the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list.

“Lisa’s leadership in the kitchen, dedication to showcasing the finest British ingredients, and ability to inspire those around her have made a lasting impact — not just on Northcote, but on the industry as a whole.

“It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside her, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she has given.

“Lisa will always be a part of the Northcote family, and we wish her nothing but success in the future.”

Northcote is currently owned by Britannia Hospitality, the operator behind the Stafford Collection, which acquired the business five years ago.

In October last year it was reported that the Ribble Valley property had been put on the market.

News of the sale followed the unveiling of plans earlier last year for a new high-end restaurant to be built on Northcote’s grounds and for the hotel’s current Michelin-starred restaurant to be transformed into a more ‘simplistic and affordable’ brasserie.

Both restaurants were expected to be overseen by Goodwin-Allen.

Details on Goodwin-Allen’s replacement at Northcote are yet to be announced.
