Jikoni founders Ravinder Bhogal and Nadeem Lalani Nanjuwany will oversee a new food offer at V&A East Museum in Stratford.

Details of the restaurant are still under wraps, but the collaboration will see the co-founders of the Marylebone Indian restaurant create a ‘pioneering and distinctive new food and drink offer’ at the museum, according to PR details.

“We’re excited to be in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on East Bank, with a project that will speak to the depth and breadth of the culturally rich and diverse communities in east London,” say the pair.

“Beyond serving nourishing and delicious food, our intention is inclusivity, collaboration and connectivity.”

TV chef and food writer Bhogal opened Jikoni with Nanjuwany on Marylebone’s Blandford Street in September 2016. The restaurant, which means ‘kitchen’ in Swahili, is inspired by immigrant cuisine and the rich, shared flavours and cultures across parts of South Asia & the Far East, the Middle East, East Africa and Britain.

Laura Parker, deputy director at V&A East, adds: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Ravinder and Nadeem to develop an exciting new food and drink offer at V&A East Museum. Ravinder and Nadeem share our vision of making the arts and culture more accessible and a desire to create a distinctive new restaurant experience for our visitors.

“They’ll be bringing their passion for storytelling through food while focusing on seasonal ingredients, sustainability, and supporting local producers.

“Alongside delicious food and drinks, there will be events and experiences that bring people together in new and exciting ways too.”
