Permanently Unique has promoted managing director Dan Purnell to global CEO ahead of its planned international debut in Dubai later this year.

It is one of two leadership appointments announced by the group, with Andrew Jobes joining the business in the newly created role of COO of its GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) division.

Permanently Unique operates several sites across the UK under three different brands.

They are modern Asian concept Tattu, Greek-Mediterranean inspired brand Fenix, and Italian-American restaurant Louis.

The group will make its international debut in the coming months with Tattu Dubai, which will operate across the top three floors of Ciel Tower, the world’s tallest hotel that’s located at the edge of Dubai Marina.

Purnell (pictured), whose global CV includes stints with Hakkasan, Lone Star Barbados and Hilton Worldwide, joined Permanently Unique in 2021 to guide the company through the post-pandemic landscape, implementing strategic processes with a focus on people.

He also played a key role in launching the London location of Tattu in 2022.

“Dan joined us as managing director in mid-2021 as the business emerged from the pandemic,” says Adam Jones, Permanently Unique co-founder and chairman.

“He brought with him a clear focus on people and process, elevating our operating policies and creating a platform for our teams to develop and flourish. He unified the business under a common vision, harnessing the incredible passion that exists within our group.

“He is the right leader to drive our amazing brands as we embark on our global expansion plans.”

Jobes has over 20 years of executive leadership experience in the ultra-premium and luxury hospitality sectors, spanning restaurants, nightlife, beach clubs, retail, and e-commerce.

Previously, he served as chief operating officer at Fundamental Hospitality, spearheading its growth across the Middle East, UK, Europe, and the USA.

His career also includes leadership roles at Tao Group Hospitality and Hakkasan Group.

Permanently Unique intends to use the Dubai opening as a foothold to expand further into the GCC, which consists of six Middle Eastern countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The group is also planning to bring both its Fenix and Louis brands to London in the next year following the success of both restaurants in Manchester.
