The husband-and-wife duo behind New York’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant Atomix, currently ranked as the best restaurant in North America and sixth best in the world, are to oversee a new elevated Korean barbecue restaurant in Mayfair.

Kiji will be led by Korean-born culinary duo Junghyun - known as JP -and Ellia Park and will open at 60 Curzon, previously home to high society restaurant Mirabelle, which was once owned by Marco Pierre White and which was frequented by people such as Orson Welles, Elizabeth Taylor and Winston Churchill.

As well as Korean fine dining restaurant Atomix, the Parks oversee three further New York dining spots – the more casual Atoboy, Naro, which focuses on more traditional Korean dishes, and the drinks-led Seoul Salon.

They have been described by The World’s 50 Best as ‘the city’s ultimate gastronomic power couple’.

Kiji will be set across an 8,000sq ft space with a bar, lounge and private dining room and will ‘embody the same pioneering spirit that propelled Atomix onto the global stage’, and ‘take diners on an unmatched culinary journey, fortifying south Mayfair’s reputation as a gastronomic hotspot’, according to the marketing blurb.

60 Curzon is an eight-storey property that has been redeveloped with a nod to the Art Deco architectural heritage of the site. As well as a restaurant, the development has 32 private residences.

“This is another exciting chapter in the history of the icon that is 60 Curzon, and we are honoured to be involved in this moment: this team’s first foray into the UK after their outstanding successes globally.

“Not only are we welcoming a world renowned restaurant into the development, but we are also paying tribute to the extraordinary legacy that came before,” says director Charles Leigh.

“Kiji’s opening will play a pivotal role in the rebirth of Mayfair and positioning 60 Curzon as a must-visit destination in London.”

Kiji is due to open next year.
