The group behind France-based smash burger brand Junk has doubled up in Soho with the opening of the first permanent London site under its cookie and coffee shop concept Puffy.

Located next door to Junk’s debut restaurant on Old Compton Street, which launched last autumn, Puffy’s inaugural UK site serves a range of cookie varieties alongside a selection of freshly ground coffees from Origin Coffee.

Cookie options include milk chocolate, chocolate trio, dark chocolate, chocolate duo and peanut butter, chocolate duo and hazelnuts, white chocolate and macadamia, and white chocolate and matcha.

All cookies are made using RISE Re:Gen flour, which is produced by the Green Farm Collective, a group of British farmers committed to 100% regenerative farming.

A limited range of Puffy cookies already featured on the Junk menu in London, but this marks the brand’s first permanent outpost outside of Paris, where it has four sites.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Puffy experience to London,” says Majed Mansour and Wissem Ben Ammar, founders of Junk Group.

“We believe our unique blend of Parisian craftsmanship and premium ingredients will resonate with Londoners seeking a truly exceptional cookie and coffee experience.”

Speaking to Restaurant last year, Junk’s founders said the group is aiming to open between 10 and 15 Junk sites in London, as well as outposts in other cities across the UK.

Ben Ammar said: “Our main goal is not to do one in the UK. If it was, we could just stay in France. We want to come here and be known as the smash burger brand. And there are broader plans we’re working on too to go global.

“We want Junk to be what people think of when they think about smash burgers anywhere in the world.”
