Indian restaurant group Dishoom is expected to launch a restaurant in Leeds later this year.

According to property investment and development company Town Centre Securities PLC (TCS), the high-profile group is set to take over the former Flannels unit on Vicar Lane.

Spanning two floors, the space is around 8,000sq ft and occupies a ‘prime position’ between Victoria Gate and Victoria Quarter.

It will bring the total number of Dishooms up to 11 and will be the first new restaurant under the group’s core brand since Dishoom Battersea opened its doors 2023.

The group - which was founded in Covent Garden in 2010 - has been focused on its more bar-led spin-off brand The Permit Room which now has sites in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford and will soon make its London debut with a location in Notting Hill.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to bring Dishoom to Leeds and be able to provide such an iconic space in the heart of the city,” says Charles Newman, associate director for estates at TCS.

“Dishoom is a brand that has redefined dining experiences in the UK, and their decision to come to Leeds – and specifically to this key location, is a strong vote of confidence in the city’s continued growth as a regional destination for food, retail and culture.”

Dishoom - which recently became a B-Corp - is also looking to break into the US market.
