US delivery firm DoorDash has followed its acquisition of Deliveroo with the purchase of hospitality booking platform SevenRooms in a $1.2bn all-cash deal.

DoorDash said the move marks a significant expansion of its commerce platform capabilities that will equip its merchants across the globe with new tools to grow in-store and delivery sales, build stronger customer relationships, and increase profitability.

In turn, SevenRooms will ‘continue its mission to empower restaurants and hospitality operators to deliver exceptional guest experiences’, while gaining access to DoorDash’s scale, resources, and global reach.

DoorDash was founded in 2013 and operates in over 30 countries including the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

“With SevenRooms, we’re excited to give local businesses around the globe new ways to bring more guests in the door, build and grow direct relationships with their customers, access best-in-class CRM, and drive profitability through smarter marketing,” says Parisa Sadrzadeh, VP of strategy and operations at DoorDash.

Founded in 2011 and based in New York, SevenRooms has more than 13,000 dining, hotel F&B, nightlife and entertainment clients globally.

In the UK they include JKS Restaurants, The Wolseley Hospitality Group and Dishoom.

“With an operator-first mentality at our core, we’re excited to embark on this next chapter with DoorDash – delivering greater innovation, a direct channel to a network of millions of DoorDash consumers, more personalized guest relationships and elevated experiences that transform first-time diners into loyal regulars,” says Joel Montaniel, co-founder and CEO of SevenRooms.

“Together, we’re equipping restaurants with the tools to own the guest experience, grow their customer base, and thrive in an omnichannel world – inside and outside of the merchant’s four walls.”

Earlier this week, DoorDash secured a deal to acquire Deliveroo for £2.9bn.

DoorDash and Deliveroo are described as having ‘complementary geographic operations’ with the latter successful at operating in cities and large urban centres, and the former demonstrating success across urban, suburban and rural areas.

Between them, the two companies will have a global presence in over 40 countries.

DoorDash said the acquisition of SevenRooms reflected its broader mission to empower local businesses and foster stronger connections between consumers and its merchants.

William Blair served as exclusive financial advisor, and Goodwin Procter LLP as legal advisor to SevenRooms on this transaction. A&O Shearman served as legal advisor to DoorDash.

The acquisition is expected to close during the second half of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
