Nancy Silverton’s Pizzeria Mozza London closes its doors

Nancy Silverton’s London branch of her celebrated LA pizza restaurant Pizzeria Mozza has closed after nearly four years.

The restaurant, located within Treehouse Hotel London on Langham Place, is listed as permanently closed on Google and is no longer taking reservations online.

Opened in summer of 2021, Pizzeria Mozza was the first UK restaurant from the internationally recognised chef and her business partner Joe Bastianich and served a range of pizzas and antipasti in a buzzy setting.

Last month the restaurant announced it was working on reduced hours, with no lunchtime service, but did not give a reason for the decision.

In the US Silverton is the co-owner of Michelin-starred restaurant Osteria Mozza in LA and she co-founded La Brea Bakery. Her Pizzeria Mozza restaurant in LA remains open.

The restaurant is one of a number n the capital and beyond to have closed its doors in recent months. Last month fried chicken brand Chick ‘N Sours announced the closure of its two remaining London restaurants, in May Norman’s Cafe in Archway, north London, closed after five years of trading, and James Lowe’s Lyle’s in Shoreditch also closed in May after more than a decade.

In Stratford-Upon-Avon Paul Foster closed his Salt restaurant after eight years, in Edinburgh restaurant Fhior will close its doors this month after nearly seven years of trading, and in Bristol Peter Sanchez-Iglesias recently closed his sole remaining restaurant Paco Tapas.

Tom Kerridge also called time on his The Butcher’s Tap & Grill in Chelsea after less than two years of trading, but the site will reopen as The Chalk Freehouse under former The Hand and Flowers head chef Tom De Keyser later this month.
