Sushi by Masa, Kerridge’s Fish & Chips and Calum Franklin at The Georgian will have all ceased trading by the end of the month.
The latter only opened late last year as part of a major overhaul of the Knightsbridge venue’s Grade II-listed The Georgian tearoom.
As revealed earlier this morning by Restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Burger is also set to close.
The fourth floor restaurant - which drew headlines for offering an £80 wagyu burger that didn’t come with chips when it launched in 2020 - will close its doors in January next year.
Harrods says the move follows a strategic review earlier this year of customer preferences when visiting stores and wider industry trends, including diners opting to eat earlier in the evening.
A handful of chef-led venues will remain including Mireille Hayek’s Em Sherif and Neha Mishra’s Kinoya Ramen Bar.
It will also continue to work with some third party restaurant brands including Pasta Evangelists and Prada Caffè.
Harrods says it is now investing in ‘a number of new developments’ across both its retail and F&B offerings.
Early this year chef Björn Frantzén’s Studio Frantzén on Harrods’s fifth floor quietly closed to make way for a new upmarket grill concept conceived by the department store itself.
The planned changes represent a major shift in strategy for Harrods’ UK flagship, which over the past decade or so has looked to become a major player within London’s - and indeed the world’s - food scene by getting top chefs and restaurant brands to run its F&B outlets.
The overhaul of Harrods F&B was driven by Ashley Saxton, who left his role as director for restaurants and kitchens earlier this year after seven years.
“As part of Harrods’ considered customer approach, we took the decision a number of months ago to review feedback and data to ensure our in-store experience is delivering against customers’ evolving preferences. Harrods has a rich history of serving the finest food and drink and we are constantly progressing our dining offerings,” says Harrods managing director Michael Ward.
“We’d like to thank all the fantastic chefs that we have been very privileged to work with over the last few years for their partnership. Together we have served many thousands of diners from shoppers to families and friends celebrating special moments in our restaurants.”
