The team behind Italian-leaning London restaurant brand Faros has taken on the former Carmel Fitzrovia site for a new concept centred on Turkish cuisine.

The site at of 7–8 Market Place has been let to Faros Group, which has sites in Holborn and Oxford Circus, through a deal facilitated by One Voice Hospitality.

“Market Place continues to evolve as one of the West End’s most dynamic all-day dining destinations,” says Ted Schama, co-founder of One Voice Hospitality, which also recently let 9–10 Market Place on behalf of Woven Spaces to Thai brand Khao Soi.

“In a competitive leasing process, we recommended the founders of faros demonstrating passion, dedication and a very strong track record in the Fitzrovia community.”

Faro Group have confirmed the new restaurant will have a focus on Turkish cuisine, although the name and full concept are still under wraps.

“This one is very close to my heart,” says Burak Demirelli, co-founder of Faros Group.

“It will celebrate the richness of Turkish cuisine, with a special focus on meze culture and open-fire cooking — all delivered with elegance and authenticity in central London.

“Thank you to everyone who’s supported us on this journey so far. This is just the beginning of something very exciting.”

Fitzrovia’s 7-8 Market Place has previously proven to be a particularly tricky site for operators.

Carmel took on the site in April 2024, however, the restaurant closed in January this year after just nine months trading.

Prior to that, the site, which is just off Oxford Street, was home to MJMK’s short-lived Cuban restaurant La Rampa, and before that was occupied, briefly, by US brand Sweet Chick.
