Launching this Friday (15 August), Biléyi by MsJoyceK’s first dedicated unit will serve Kudia’s ‘signature’ plantain burger, which sees a beef patty sandwiched between two pieces of fried plantain with lettuce, avocado and caramelised onions.
It comes after Kudia drew consistent queues, sold-out days, and viral traction across social media while in residency at Boxhall City’s rotating chef concept Kitchen No. 8 when it launched in April.
Her time at Kitchen No.8 came after she competed on Channel 4’s Five Star Chef: Britain’s Next Great Chef last year and marked her first opportunity to step into a commercial kitchen of her own.
“I’m so excited to be returning to Boxhall City,” says Kudia.
“My time at Kitchen No.8 was a real game changer, giving me the platform to share the bold flavours and rich traditions of Congolese cuisine with a whole new audience.
“The response was incredible, and the energy, feedback and loyal customers I met have stayed with me ever since.
“Coming back now with a permanent spot means I can build on that momentum, keep creating, and welcome back familiar faces while hopefully winning over plenty of new ones too.”
Alongside the plantain burger, Biléyi by MsJoyceK’s menu will feature an expanded selection of Congolese-inspired dishes including slow-smoked goat and flame grilled chicken.
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Joyce back to Boxhall,” says Michelle Farrell, chief growth officer at Boxpark and Boxhall City.
“Joyce made a huge impact as the very first chef to take over Kitchen No.8, and her Congolese-inspired dishes brought something truly unique to our line-up.
“The passion, creativity and energy she brings to her food is exactly what Boxhall is all about, and we can’t wait for more guests to experience Biléyi.”
Boxhall is an offshoot of the Boxpark concept that’s designed as a smaller F&B-focused destination.
The inaugural City site within the historic Metropolitan Arcade building close to Liverpool Street station houses 13 traders that also include Burger & Beyond, Old Chang Kee, Baked Bird, and Egg Slut.
