The owners behind Manchester’s Afro-fusion restaurant and bar Chillz have announced plans to relocate to a larger venue because of ‘growing demand’.

Enitan Omolaja and Tunde Onolaja will move Chillz from its current premises on Oldham Road in Failsworth, where they launched it in September 2020, to a new location on Chapel Street this autumn that previously housed Bijou Club.

According to the owners, the move will see the restaurant ‘refine’ its menu, introducing new African-inspired dishes including steak and yam chips, and fried rice with grilled tiger prawns.

The venue will also provide music entertainment into the early hours of the morning with a blend of Afro beats, R&B and pop music from live bands and DJs.

“Our five-year Chillz adventure has finally brought us into the heart of Manchester where we can grow our unique afro-fusion fine dining experience combined with an unmissable nighttime scene,” says Omolaja.

“Customers have been coming from far and wide to appreciate the authentic flavours of Africa through our meticulously crafted dishes.

“We now hope to make this journey more accessible while also offering our guests a stunning and sophisticated riverside setting in the city.”

The new venue is currently undergoing a refurbishment and will feature a lounge area, two rooms accommodating more than 100 covers complete with a stage and DJ booth, a VIP space for high-end private parties, and outdoor seating for up to 40 people.

“Work is continuing to transform the venue ahead of our relaunch this autumn when we will say a fond farewell to our current premises which has served us so successfully for the past five years,” Omolaja adds.
