The team behind acclaimed Manchester venues Higher Ground and Flawd have revealed further details about their third project in the city, which is set to open in late October.

Announced earlier this year, it has now been confirmed that Bar Shrimp will open at Faulkner House, which also houses Higher Ground.

Daniel Craig Martin, Richard Cossins and chef Joseph Otway describe Bar Shrimp as “an extension of our ethos, offering a relaxed and focused bar with delicious food.”

The venue will serve considered cocktails, beers on tap, British seafood and snacks, accompanied by what the trio call “world-class sound.”

The seafood-led menu will feature shellfish over ice, dishes such as Cornish crab cocktail and British bluefin tuna crudo, as well as bar classics.

Other plates will include brioche rolls with seaweed butter; ham croquettes; steamed surf clams with bacon and sherry; and a Dexter beef burger.

An Oyster Happy Hour will run on weekdays between 4pm and 5pm.

Reservations will be available in the dining area from Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and on Saturdays at lunch.

Sundays will be more informal, with no reservations and a snack-led bar menu.

The trio – who have worked at some of the world’s best restaurants, including Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York – launched natural wine bar FLAWD in 2021 and followed with neo-bistro Higher Ground in 2022.

A full interview with the team will be published next month.
