Japanese restaurant group Taro has opened its ninth location and its first major site outside of the capital, in the seaside town on Brighton.

Located on Ship Street, the 70-cover restaurant serves Taro’s signature bowls of ramen and udon noodles as well as bento boxes, sushi, sashimi, and tempura.

Also on the menu will be a sushi roll exclusive to the restaurant called the Brighton Roll – a rainbow rolled sushi of salmon, prawn, tuna, and yellow tail filled with asparagus, avocado and tobiko dressed with spicy mayo.

Drink include hot and cold sake, Japanese beers, and a rotating selection of soft drinks and cocktails, including the signature cocktail Lychee martini made with holy grass vodka, lychee juice, coconut syrup and lime.

“We are incredibly proud to be opening Taro Brighton – our first major venture outside of London. Brighton is a city full of energy, creativity and diversity, with a rich sense of history and community spirit – it felt like the perfect home for Taro’s next chapter,” says Taro founder Mr Taro.

“We’re excited to bring our authentic Japanese flavours to the city, from fresh handmade sushi and our much-loved bento boxes to new special sushi rolls created just for Brighton by our chefs.

“As always, guests can expect warm, heartfelt hospitality – the kind Taro has become known for. We can’t wait to welcome the people of Brighton into our restaurant and share what we love most: great food made with care.”

Taro was established in 1999 and currently operates restaurants in Soho, Balham, Kennington, Finchley Central, Pimlico, Walthamstow, Brentwood, and Catford.
