Southern Thai restaurant concept Plaza Khao Gaeng will open a second London location later this year, taking over the former Vinoteca site in Borough Yards.

Created by chef Luke Farrell and JKS Restaurants, Plaza Khao Gaeng launched its first site in 2022 at Arcade Food Hall on Tottenham Court Road.

The full-service mezzanine restaurant, known for its authentically fiery dishes, was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand around a year after opening.

Menu details are limited, but there will be a focus on khao gaeng ‘curry over rice’ dishes as well as braised soy and spiced pork hocks and sour gaeng som curries.

As with the first site, some of the more specialist produce is sourced from Farrell’s Ryewater Nursery in Cornwall.

Farrell trained at Spanish-Italian restaurant group Salt Yard before honing his skills in various kitchens in South East Asia.

Plaza Khao Gaeng is part of Farrell and JKS Restaurants’ Chaiyo Restaurants group, which also includes the Bangkok Chinatown-inspired Speedboat Bar, which operates a restaurant in Chinatown London alongside a more recently launched site within Soho House’s Electric House in Notting Hill.
