The Thesleff Group will open an Italian riviera-inspired restaurant at The Langham in London this autumn.

Sale e Pepe Mare is described as being an evolution of the original Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge and is said to mark a new chapter in the storied history of the Italian restaurant, which opened in 1974.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu will have a seafood focus serving dishes from Amalfi to Puglia. Menu items will include Sale e Pepe classics such as lobster linguine with Datterino tomatoes and basil; salt-baked whole sea bass; and clams linguine with bottarga, garlic and parsley, as well as new dishes such as bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic; seabass sashimi with trout roe, espelette pepper, and yuzu soy; and tagliarini with Dorset crab, Calabrian anchovies, parsley, and olive oil.

The kitchen will also feature a Josper grill, on which whole turbot, clams, and prime cuts of steak will be cooked.

The wine offer will focus on Italy’s diverse wine-growing regions, with highlights including Super Tuscans and a dedicated page honouring the legendary Gaja estates. A champagne and negroni trolley will add a touch of theatre, with the cocktail menu blending 1950s nostalgia with premium ingredients, featuring classics such as the Dirty Martinis and Old Fashioneds.

The 5,000sq ft restaurant will seat 130 guests and include a private dining room for up to 22 guests. The main dining room will feature a walk-in wine room with a 16-foot floor-to-ceiling bar.

“Sale e Pepe has always been more than a restaurant, it’s part of London’s cultural fabric. I grew up visiting with my parents, so it holds a special place in my heart,” says Markus Thesleff, CEO and founder of Thesleff Group.

“With Sale e Pepe Mare, we’re honouring that legacy while reimagining it for today, capturing the spirit of la dolce vita in a setting that’s effortlessly elegant and luxurious.”

Sale e Pepe Mare will open late November 2025.
