St John has opened its new Covent Garden bakery and bar having relocated to larger premises.

The new site, located at 6 Neal’s Yard, is split over two floors, with seating areas in both, and serves a range of bakery items, including its doughnuts, sandwiches and bread as well as an extensive wines by the glass offer.

The new venue is open until 10pm meaning it also serves a lunch and dinner menu.

There is also space for outside seating

Writing on Instagram, the restaurant says: “We have upped sticks and settled across the Yard, finished our fit-out (despite the utilities goblins…) and quietly opened our doors to locals. The good things, Eccles cakes, our sandwiches, loaves and more are back.

“The new bakery is though something different, look up and you will see light and hear the sounds of life and chatter, we have our new bar! For those that know our favourite bar at the winery, up a hill and around a corner to nowhere, there is Gilbert’s - a small vestige of a forgotten time, something to be cherished and it was in our thoughts when we lost a basement but gained an upper floor in the move.

“Being open in the evening means you can have a glass to help end the day well too, just like at Gilbert’s, and better still, grab that loaf for home.”

In August it was revealed that St John would be relocating their small bakery in Neal’s Yard to a larger location having outgrown the site.
