Chefs Dan Kenny and Marcin Miasik have launched a crowdfund to secure a permanent home for their longstanding Brighton tasting menu concept The Set.

The pair are looking to raise at least £50,000 on the Crowdfunder platform by offering rewards including merchandise, experiences and membership packages that will give holders a range of discounts and other perks when the restaurant launches early next year.

At the time of writing, the crowdfund has raised £5,110 from a total of 36 supporters and has 83 days left to run.

The pair are looking to acquire and refit a “small and unique” restaurant with between 12 and 14 seats that will serve Asian-influenced food made with top quality British ingredients.

“We’re asking our current customers and future ones we hope to cook for to help us realise this dream, we hope you deem us a valuable investment to your dining future in Brighton,” the pair say.

Kenny launched the first iteration of The Set around 10 years ago at Brighton’s the Artist Residence hotel having run a number of pop-ups in the seaside city.

The project closed due to the pandemic with Kenny and Miasik eventually taking a leaner, more focused version of their multi-course restaurant concept to Café Rust’s Preston Road site.

Earlier this month, the pair announced that they were moving on from Café Rust after four years and that the last service there would be held on 3 January.
