Located on Golborne Road, Straker’s Dining Room will host a roster of collaborative events and guest chefs throughout next year, beginning with Max Posener’s supper club Otaku on 8-9 January.
The 24-cover space can hold 40 people standing and is described as an extension in style of cooking to the restaurant but a departure in design.
It offers bespoke menus based on the food served at Straker’s served family-style. Sample dishes include canapés of tuna tartare; and hogget croquette, starters of beef carpaccio; and langoustine with gremolata burnt butter; pasta such as lobster raviolo and pumpkin and ricotta agnolotti; and whole roasted turbot; suckling pig and a British game for mains.
Beyond private hires, Straker’s Dining Room will act as an incubator space for emerging chefs. The first event will be Otaku, where Posener and Straker’s head sommelier Oliver Baggott will serve an 18-course menu matched with wine.
Dishes will include the prawn dog - Posener’s take on the corn dog with prawn head ketchup; beef short rib with miso-cured foie gras; and a somewhat divisive dessert of Dairy Milk mousse with salt, vinegar and pork scratchings.
