Wareing was awarded an MBE for services to the culinary arts and broadcasting. He is best known for his now closed restaurant at The Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge, which at one point held two Michelin stars, and for launching The Gilbert Scott in King’s Cross and Treadwell’s in Covent Garden (both also now closed).
In 2014, Wareing joined MasterChef: The Professionals as a judge and mentor, a role he continues to hold.
Munkley received an MBE for services to the hospitality industry and to young people.
Now running his own chef consultancy, he is best known for his long stint at the Craft Guild of Chefs.
Mark McCulloch, founder and CEO of Supersonic Inc and creator of the recruitment marketing campaign Hospitality Rising, also received an MBE for services to hospitality.
McCulloch has worked on the growth and brand evolution of UK operators including Prezzo Italian, Pret A Manger and YO!.
“Hospitality is a people-first industry – full of heart, creativity and resilience,” says McCulloch, who is currently CMO at Prezzo.
“To play a part in helping the industry attract its next generation of talent during its toughest time was a real privilege. I’ve dedicated my career to telling its stories, championing its people and helping its businesses thrive, regardless of size.
“This honour is a reflection of the incredible operators, leaders and marketers I’ve had the privilege to work with and is as much for them as it is for me.”
David Campbell, chair of Hospitality Rising and chair of Ole & Steen and Gaucho, says: “I am thrilled to see Mark receive this well-earned recognition for his contribution to hospitality, particularly as the founder and driving force behind Hospitality Rising.
“Mark has an unwavering passion and drive, especially for hospitality, and against the odds secured private funding to create the multi-award-winning Hospitality Rising campaign, which transformed perceptions of working in hospitality and inspired the next generation of talent.
“Mark’s consumer-driven insight and enthusiasm leave a lasting legacy with everyone he meets.”
Also recognised on this year’s Honours list were Peter Bruce, chief executive officer of Scottish independent catering company Entier, who received a CBE for services to the catering industry and to charity, and Clement Ogbonnaya, chief executive of We Are The Village People, who received an MBE for services to hospitality and to business.
In addition, Teresa Colaianni, founder of WiHTL, was awarded an MBE for services to inclusion in the hospitality, travel, leisure and retail sectors.
