Tom Cenci has stepped down from his role as executive chef of Maslow’s, the group behind central London restaurants Nessa, Yasmin and Mortimer House Kitchen.

Having previously headed up kitchens including Loyal Tavern and Duck & Waffle, Cenci joined what is now known as the Maslow’s group in 2022, where he launched Italian-leaning bistro Nessa in Soho.

Cenci went on to oversee the kitchen at Mortimer House Kitchen in Fitzrovia, the public restaurant located beneath private members’ club and workspace Maslow’s.

In 2024, Cenci relaunched the rooftop restaurant at 1 Warwick – which is also home to Nessa – as Yasmin, offering a Middle Eastern menu inspired by his time living and cooking in Istanbul.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Cenci described his departure as “bittersweet”.

“These past four years have been an absolutely extraordinary journey filled with growth, creativity, and memorable experiences. Leading the kitchens at Maslow’s has been one of the greatest honours and privileges of my career,” the post reads.

“Together with our amazing and dedicated teams, we’ve created countless memorable dishes, menus and exciting concepts, and most importantly, we’ve built a vibrant community centred around the joy and celebration of great food.”

Cenci said he plans to take some time to reflect on his journey so far before “exploring new culinary adventures and opportunities that await”.
