Papi will close its doors just three years after they opened in 2023.

Low-waste-focused restaurant Papi, located in London Fields, has announced it will be closing ahead of an ‘exciting’ new project.

The restaurant shared the news on Instagram, describing the closure as ‘bittersweet’ and stating that there was an upcoming venture on the horizon set to run under a new name in a ‘fancy’ new location.

Over the next couple of months, Papi will revisit classic dishes and reconnect with its successful chef collaborations as part of a series of events leading up to its final service on 7 March.

In the post, the restaurant thanked its customers saying: “Papi has only been possible because of you, this is as much yours as it is ours” and encouraging guests to “come and see Papi out in style”.

It also expressed gratitude to its suppliers and team for their support.

The post also revealed that the venue has plans to host a ‘massive party’, with further details to follow.

Papi, which opened in 2023, is a collaboration between Matthew Scott, founder of nomadic kitchen concept Hot 4 U, and sommelier Charlie Carr, who runs independent natural wine bar Wingnut Wines.

The restaurant marked Scott’s first foray into bricks and mortar and came about after he and Carr collaborated on a number of pop-ups.
