Seven restaurants have received Green Stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland.

Scotland had a great year, with The Free Company near Edinburgh, Timberyard in Edinburgh and 1887 in the Northwest Highlands all receiving the accolades (the latter also won its first Michelin star).

In England, Eight at Gazegill in Lancashire, The Forest Side in Cumbria, Glebe House in Devon and Wilding Kitchen in West Sussex won Green Stars.

No new Green Stars were awarded in London, Wales, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.

There are now a total of 44 restaurants that hold Green Stars in Great Britain & Ireland.

The Green Star, which highlights restaurants that are leaders in sustainable practices, was awarded to UK restaurants for the first time in 2021, having made its debut in the French version of the Red Guide in 2020.

Last year, there was speculation that Michelin was looking to drop Green Stars following a story from food writer Nicholas Gill posted on his Substack, New Worlder.

A spokesperson for the Michelin Guide said it “is more committed than ever to promoting a community of dedicated chefs, aligned with the challenges of tomorrow’s gastronomy” and that the “Green Star still exists” as a “complementary recognition to culinary distinctions (Red Stars)”.
