Coinciding with the Chinese New Year, a new independent Vietnamese restaurant has opened at Grand Union’s canalside community in Wembley.

Ladudu, founded by Teresa Le, serves Vietnamese dishes such as pho, curries, Vietnamese salads and stir-fries alongside matcha beverages and homemade desserts. The menu also features a selection of vegan options, as well as weekly specials.

The family-run kitchen sources vegetables and halal beef and chicken from suppliers in Park Royal, just across from Grand Union.

A private dining space is included within the venue for workshops and cooking classes, as well as a children’s play area with a miniature kitchen.

The business also sells its own sauces and ingredients for customers to use at home.

“Ladudu is all about happy, healthy, and hearty food,” says Teresa Le, Ladudu founder and owner, who has spent more than 15 years working in the food industry, including running a restaurant in West Hampstead.

“The name itself draws inspiration from the Vietnamese language, with “đủ” meaning ‘enough’ – an important reminder of balance needed in all things.

“This philosophy runs throughout the menu, which focuses on nourishing dishes made using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

“Grand Union’s accessible location and friendly local community make it the ideal home to launch our new restaurant.”

Ladudu is the latest business to join the growing mix of independent stores and cafés at Grand Union, a canalside community in Wembley delivered by Berkeley Group.

Other local shops and amenities include the play café Full of Beans, Peapods nursery, Anytime Fitness gym, Crepes + Coffee, and the Community Hub.

“Supporting local entrepreneurs is a key part of our vision for Grand Union’s lively neighbourhood, and Teresa’s passion and creativity perfectly reflects the spirit of the community we are building here,” says Marcus Blake, managing director at Berkeley Group.

“By bringing together exciting independent ventures alongside our high-quality homes, public spaces and bespoke retail and leisure offerings, we are able to build a unique lifestyle destination that allows residents to live, eat, work, work out and socialise - all in one place.”

Ladudu opens fully to the public today (18 February).
