Ikoyi co-founders chef Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale will launch a line of sauces and seasonings pitched at home cooks next month.

Magma Concepts’ inaugural product will be Magma Hot Sauce, which has been in development for two years and reflects the bold heat found in dishes from the globally-renowned two-Michelin-star central London restaurant, with undernotes of citrus and a deep umami-rich finish.

Packaged in a stylish 150ml aluminium bottle, Magma Hot Sauce is made from lacto-fermented chillies, citrus and a blend of two rare varieties of peppercorns combining the ‘white-hot’ heat of White Penja from Cameroon and the ‘sweet-hot’ warmth of Red Kampot from Cambodia.

Chan recommends adding the hot sauce directly to eggs, fried rice or pizza; using it to elevate mayonnaise, dipping sauces and marinades for meat or fish; or even adding it to cocktails or homemade infusions.

Given Ikoyi’s signature tasting menu is priced at £380, the cost feels accessible at £10 per bottle.

To celebrate the launch, Ikoyi will host a tasting for guests on 28 March in timed slots from 14:00 to 20:15. Guests will enjoy a fried chicken dish with rice or a vegetarian alternative, along with a cocktail, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage - and Magma Hot Sauce.

Tickets will be priced at £50 and released on 25 February.

Attendees will also take home a bottle of Magma Hot Sauce and an exclusive Magma tote bag. T-shirts will be available to purchase at an additional cost.

Ikoyi’s Magma Hot Sauce will be available to purchase online at www.magmaconcepts.co from 28 March.

Launched in 2017 in St James’s, Ikoyi moved to its current location on 180 Strand in 2023.

The restaurant was initially positioned as a West African-inspired restaurant, but Chan’s influences have since broadened.

Ikoyi is currently billed as offering ‘spice-based cuisine’, while still maintaining a focus on ingredients from that part of the world with some of its key dishes takes on West African staples, such as fried plantain and jollof rice.

Ikoyi is one of just two London restaurants in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2025 (it’s currently ranked 15th), alongside Kol.

The restaurant is also a regular on Restaurant’s own list of the top 100 places to eat in the UK.
