The Breakfast Group has acquired rum-focused cocktail bar brand Laki Kane, with plans to relaunch it at the site of its Burlock Bar on London’s Oxford Street late next month.

Laki Kane was founded by hospitality entrepreneur Georgi Radev on Upper Street, Islington, in 2018.

It relaunched last year with a new food menu curated by high-profile Caribbean chef Collin Brown, but closed just a few months later citing a rapidly changing neighbourhood.

The Oxford Street outpost will feature “a more club-focused atmosphere”, including a dancefloor, and will hold a 3am licence.

Led by Radev, the former creative manager of celebrity-favourite Mahiki, the venue will offer rum-tasting experiences, rum-making workshops and cocktail masterclasses.

The food offering has been developed in collaboration with Brown and will feature dishes including rum BBQ wings with June plum and lime; jerk chicken with sweet and sour miso; salt fish fritters with mango chilli; and the signature Laki chicken burger.

A spokesperson said: “By combining The Breakfast Group’s operational expertise with Laki Kane’s strong brand identity and loyal following, the collaboration is expected to reinforce both brands’ presence within London’s competitive premium cocktail bar market.”
