Chef Thomas Hine has announced plans to open his own restaurant in Padstow this month.

PL28 Café will open on 27 March on Broad Street in Cornish village and will be a café by day serving breakfast and brunch, transforming into a chef’s table supper club format in the evening.

Hine, whose previously roles include time a The Seren Collection’s Coast restaurant in Saundersfoot, at Penmaenuchaf hotel in Snowdonia National Park, and Lympstone Manor in Devon, is opening the restaurant with his business partner and cousin Will Derry.

Hine will lead the kitchen while Derry will be restaurant manager. His younger brother Fred will be sous chef.

Writing on Instagram, Hine says: “This is a perfect opportunity to show what I’ve learnt over the years and to do it in my own kitchen in my hometown of Padstow is a privilege.”

The restaurant will focus on using produce from the South West.
