Acme Taco is the brainchild of long-term friends and collaborators Clarke and 40ft founder Steve Ryan and will launch at 40ft Brewery Blackhorse Road on 3 April before expanding to the brewery’s Dalston taproom in the summer.
Having opened its doors on the popular Blackhorse Beer Mile in August 2025, Acme Taco will be 40ft Brewery’s first permanent food offer. Inspired by Clarke’s recent trip to Ciudad de México, its menu is described as ‘an ode to regional Mexican cuisine’, but with Acme Fire Cult’s characteristically playful twist, and has been created as the perfect accompaniment to the brewery’s beers and cocktails.

Tacos will be made with double layer soft tortillas with options such as the Suadero taco made with confit ox cheek, beef sausage, heart and tongue, finished with smoky bone marrow and salsa roja; the ‘Jalisco Mariscos’ shrimp taco that comprises a crispy shell taco with shrimp bechamel, avocado and clamato and which pays homage to a famous food truck in LA; and the Quesabirria - a quesadilla/taco hybrid filled with the Westholme wagyu chuck, roll fried cheese and a consommé for dipping.

A Castacán, a take on a classic chicarrón, that features slow cooked pork belly with crackling and a gooseberry-poblano ketchup; and an Achiote chicken taco with pistachio mole, grilled spring onions and sesame will also be available alongside a vegan option comprising Symplicity chorizo, I am Nut Ok stracciatella and pickled corno peppers.
Clarke says there are plans to extend the menu beyond tacos in the future to include dishes such as aguachiles and grilled meats.
“In my opinion, tacos are the best handheld food on the planet,” says Clarke.
“You can pretty much put anything in a tortilla, and that gives us a great opportunity to be creative and playful with our menu. Looking ahead, we have plans to grow beyond tacos to include aguachiles, grilled meats, and other Mexican inspired fare.”
Acme Taco will be available at 40ft Blackhorse Road on Thursday and Friday evenings, all day Saturday and for lunch on Sunday.
