Family owned restaurant business The Walcot Group is opening a second site of its neighbourhood pasta brand Solina.

The group will open the restaurant in the Grade II listed building that was home to Zero Degrees microbrewery and bar in Cardiff city centre on Westgate Street.

The new restaurant will be located opposite the Principality Stadium and is expected to open in the summer.

Solina serves affordable handmade pasta using British produce, with meat supplied by The Walcot Group’s own butcher’s shop. Menu items include linguine, olive oil, garlic, chilli, capers, pangrattato; pappardelle, wild mushrooms, Datterini tomatoes, parmesan, and truffle; rigatoni, creamy pork and fennel ragu, pangrattato; and wild venison ‘lasagne’ raviolo with parmesan sauce.

The Walcot Group opened the first Solina in Bath in September 2024. It also operates venues across the south west of England including neighbourhood cafe and pizzeria Mother & Wild in Corsham, Walcot House in Bath, Little Walcot in Frome, and Green Street Butchers in Bath.

It also took on The White Hart pub in Widcombe in July 2024 with plans to open 10 bedrooms at the venue. The pub is listed a ‘coming soon’ on the group’s website.
